Arty Fun with Stabilo

Thank you Stabilo for sending us some chunky pencils and triangular fibre tip pens to use.

We think they are extraordinary!

We drew vases and pots with flowers in them straight away. It's called still life when you do that.

The colours were really bright and apparently you can write on glass with the Woody pencils.

So we're going to decorate some old jam jars next.

Magic Nail Beauty Experiments!

Magic Nail Lab by Wild Science

Reading the instructions

I spent a fun morning last weekend making and mixing some different colours of nail polish with this fun kit. I read about why we need to keep our hands clean by washing them and why it isn't good to bite your nails. There were lots of interesting facts on the instruction sheet.

You could mix your colours and make them shiny by adding glittery stuff if you wanted. There was also a clear coat to put on your nails and fun stickers that changed colour in the light.

I had lots of fun but it was a bit messy, Mum said we had to cover the table with a plastic sheet. It was quite tricky to pour the nail polish into the bottles when I had finished making them.

I love doing kits like this at the weekend, it's a nice way to relax with my Mum and sister.

You can buy the kits online at Wild Science for £12.99, they have lip balm sets and other fun stuff as well.

I might have a go at making bath bombs or slime next.

CRA-Z-LOOM BRACELET MAKER

I was sent an elastic band bracelet maker to try out.

Now I've tried it, I can't stop!!

I've made three already.  It is easy to do and fun to make.  I found the instructions a bit confusing at first and then I watched the video and that was great. Now it's easy.

I think it is an excellent rainy day activity.  It also makes a brill present for friends.  You can purchase more rubber bands, even dayglo ones!!! Just look at the Cra-Z-Art website. You can buy a kit here for £14.99.

Thank you Cra-Z-Art.

I'm off to make another one now.

Pancakes

These are our Sunday morning treats.

ingredients

125g plain flour
1 egg
300ml milk
a pinch of salt

method

Put the flour in a bowl, add the salt then crack in the egg.  Mix well and beat in the milk.
The batter will look creamy and runny.

Get an adult to help you cook and flip the pancakes. Pour a ladleful into a hot frying pan. Cook for a minute each side or until brown.

Eat with lemon juice and sugar or chocolate spread or maple syrup. My sister likes jam on hers.

I can eat 5 or 6. How about you?

Sam's Top Secret Book Review

My name is Mia and Mummy bought me this book. I am 8 years old and a big sister like Jenny. I like reading. Here is my review.

What is the book's title?
Sam's Top Secret Journal.

Who is the author?
Dr Sean Adelman (who is actually Sam's Dad in real life).

What is the book about?
A girl called Sam is in the basketball final at her school and she wants to win for her Uncle Alex who is caming to stay when he returns from Iraq.
They also solve a crime and find the man who was stealing things.

Who are your favourite characters?
Sam, who has Down Syndrome, Jenny her cool older sister and John their annoying but clever little brother.

What was the best thing about this book?
I liked it when John put the spy tank under Sam's bed and got into a lot of trouble and ended up not going to his friend's house but had to stay with his Mum for a coffee morning. Boring!!!

Which 3 adjectives describe this book?
Well-written, exciting and easy to read.

Would you recommend this book to a friend?
I think I would recommend it to any girl in my class or any child with a brother or sister who has Down Syndrome.

I read this book every night and morning and really enjoyed it! Thank you for writing this book and for asking me to write a review.
